The short answer
AHA Boosting Toner is the Blue Line toner: a 200 ml wipe-off toner for all skin types, built on mild AHA & BHA (0.62% combined: lactic acid 0.45%, glycolic acid 0.07%, betaine salicylate 0.1%), a skin-neutral pH of 5.5, and soothing centella asiatica and chamomilla, with hyaluronic acid for hydration. Pour it onto a cotton pad, wipe your face and neck after cleansing, and use it morning and evening. Because it contains AHA, wear sunscreen in the day and patch-test before the first use.
Who it suits, and who should skip it
This is the toner step of the Blue Line, VVBETTER's base skincare line for hydration, soothing and skin barrier care, designed as a basic routine for dry, sensitive or dehydrated skin. The toner itself is for all skin types. It is for skin that has a rough or dull surface from dead surface cells, shows surface oil and congested-looking pores, or goes patchy under makeup, and for anyone who wants a daily exfoliating step that does not feel like a peel: a small amount of exfoliating acid, with hyaluronic acid, betaine and glycerin to keep skin hydrated and supple and to leave a soft glow. We suggest it from your 20s.
Skip it, or choose a toner without acids, if you have reacted to AHA or BHA products before, if your skin is broken or irritated, or if your skin is currently sensitised. Propolis, a bee-derived ingredient, is on the list; if you react to bee products, check before you buy.

The math behind 0.62%
Most exfoliating toners make you choose between strong enough to notice and gentle enough for every day. This one prints each acid so you can see the total: 0.45% lactic acid plus 0.07% glycolic acid makes AHA 0.52%, and 0.1% betaine salicylate brings the total to 0.62%. It is a daily-use level, not a weekly peel, which is what we mean by mild AHA & BHA.
| Ingredient | Amount | What it is | Why it is in the formula |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lactic acid (AHA) | 0.45% (4,500 ppm) | A water-soluble alpha hydroxy acid | Loosens dead surface cells; the largest share of the total. |
| Glycolic acid (AHA) | 0.07% (700 ppm) | A small-molecule AHA | Present at a trace level alongside the lactic acid. |
| Betaine salicylate (BHA) | 0.1% (1,000 ppm) | An oil-soluble beta hydroxy acid. The formula lists this rather than salicylic acid itself. | For congested-looking pores and surface oil. |
| Willow bark water | Listed, amount not disclosed | A plant water that naturally contains salicin | Sits alongside the betaine salicylate. |
| Centella asiatica, green tea, propolis and chamomilla (chamomile flower) extracts | Listed, amounts not disclosed | Plant extracts | To soothe skin that feels reactive, alongside the acids. |
| Hyaluronic acid, betaine, glycerin | Listed, amounts not disclosed | Water-binding ingredients | Hydration, so skin feels soft rather than stripped. |
| pH | 5.5 (skin-neutral) | Close to the skin's own mildly acidic range; "neutral" here means neutral for skin, not pH 7 | With the low acid total, it makes this a daily-use formula. |
The texture is a light, non-sticky water that absorbs quickly and does not leave skin feeling tight. The hyaluronic acid, betaine and glycerin give hydration and a smooth, silky finish, so skin feels supple and glowing rather than stripped. It contains no drying alcohol (ethanol). Fragrance is on the ingredient list. The first ingredient is water.
How to use it: the pad wipe
- Cleanse and pat your face dry.
- Soak a cotton pad with toner.
- Sweep it over your face and neck, following the direction of the skin's texture, and avoid the eye area.
- Let it absorb, then go on to serum and cream.
- In the morning, finish with sunscreen.

Use it daily, morning and evening. If acids are new to you, or you also use retinoids or other acids, start every other day. Use a pad rather than a soaked-pad mask: because it contains AHA and BHA, wipe it off rather than leaving soaked pads on the skin. One 200 ml bottle lasts about 1 to 1.5 months with daily use.
Patch test and sun caution
Patch-test on the jawline for two nights before your first use. AHA can make skin more sensitive to the sun, so use a sunscreen during the day. Stop use and consult a specialist if redness, swelling or itching occurs, including after sun exposure. Do not use it on broken or irritated skin. Keep it out of reach of children and store it away from direct sunlight.
Where it fits in a routine
The Blue Line order is cleanse, tone, serum, moisturize, sunscreen: 5.5 Soothing Cleansing Foam, this toner, Teca Lifting Moisture Serum, Teca Lifting Moisture Cream. The toner prepares the skin so the serum that follows spreads evenly, and sweeping away dead surface cells before serum and cream also helps skin look smoother, so makeup can sit more evenly, which is the "boosting before makeup" job this toner was designed for. It is a step in the middle of the routine, not the last one.
Several other VVBETTER products also contain exfoliating acids, for example the Jeju Yuja Succinic Balancing Serum and the Balancing Pad. Introduce them one at a time rather than stacking them all in a week. Our journal piece Two acid formulas, two different jobs compares this toner with the Balancing Bubble Cleanser.
This is how we mean mindful skincare: a clean and thoughtful formulation, a small and printed amount of acid, and a pH close to the skin's own. Like every VVBETTER product, it went through at least six months of development in Korea, where the brand has been making skincare since 2021.
Quick answers
Is 0.62% strong enough to do anything?
It is a daily-use level, not a peel: mild by design. Used on a cotton pad morning and evening, it helps clear dead surface cells so skin looks smoother over time.
Can I use it every day?
Yes. If acids are new to you, or you use retinoids or other acids, start every other day and use sunscreen in the morning.
Why a cotton pad and not my hands?
The toner contains exfoliating acids, so the maker recommends a pad. Sweeping along the skin lifts dead surface cells more evenly than pressing with your palms, and it keeps the toner away from the eye area.
Where does the BHA come from?
From betaine salicylate at 0.1%, with willow bark water in the formula. There is no salicylic acid itself. The AHAs are lactic acid and glycolic acid.
What does "neutral pH 5.5" mean?
It means close to the skin's own mildly acidic range, not pH 7. A pH of 5.5 helps keep the low acid total comfortable for daily use, which is why the toner does not leave skin tight.
Is it for all skin types, including sensitive skin?
It is made for all skin types, and the centella, green tea, propolis and chamomilla extracts are there to soothe. It still contains acids, so sensitive skin should patch-test, begin every other day and wear sunscreen in the morning.
