The short answer
Shake the Firming Bakuchiol PDRN Serum, the REWIND serum in the Solution series, before every use. The formula is built to separate slightly at rest: the oil phase and the natural colourant can settle apart, and a few shakes bring it back together. That is expected, not a defect. After shaking, use the dropper for 2–3 drops over face and neck.
What you will see in the bottle, and why
If you leave the bottle on a shelf for a few days, you may notice a faint layer, or colour that looks uneven or a little lighter than when you opened it. Two things are going on:
- The formula has an oil phase alongside its aloe-water base. At rest, the oil phase and the colour can separate.
- It contains natural colourants. Long exposure to light can make that colour fade.
Shaking blends it back together, and the quality of the serum is not affected. This is a formula-specific instruction. It is not a blanket rule for every VVBETTER serum (see the table below), so check the directions on the bottle you are holding.
How to shake and dose it, step by step
- Cleanse and apply toner. The serum goes after toner.
- Shake the closed bottle well. A few firm shakes are enough.
- Squeeze the rubber bulb of the dropper, release it to draw up the serum, and dispense 2–3 drops onto your fingertips or directly on the face. Keep the dropper tip off your skin so it stays clean.
- Spread over the face and neck and press in gently until absorbed.
- Follow with a cream. In the morning, finish with sunscreen.
Use it morning and night, or as your skin allows. Bakuchiol is less light-sensitive than retinol, so the serum can be used in the morning, but sunscreen is still recommended. Sensitive skin, or anyone new to bakuchiol, should patch-test on the jawline for two nights and start every other night.
Do all VVBETTER serums need shaking?
No. The three Solution serums are all dropper bottles with the same 2–3 drop dose, but only one calls for shaking.

If you use all three, the order is Succinic, then Vita C TRX, then Bakuchiol PDRN, 2–3 drops each. Very sensitive or thin skin should use one serum per routine. What is in the bottle
- 60% aloe vera leaf water as the base, in place of purified water in the lead position, so the serum starts from a soothing, water-light base.
- AIO MARINE PLANT PDRN, 2% (20,000 ppm) of a patented vegan PDRN complex (supplier patent No. 10-2249241), from marine plants, not salmon. The 20,000 ppm refers to the complex raw material.
- Bakuchiol 1% (10,000 ppm), from Indian babchi seeds, a plant-derived ingredient used in place of retinol. The raw material is over 99% pure; that is its purity, not its amount in the bottle (see 1% in the bottle, 99% purity).
- Adenosine and niacinamide, 20,400 ppm combined, plus edelweiss callus culture extract, plant squalane 100 ppm, an EGF peptide complex, ceramide NP, and centella-derived madecassoside and asiaticoside.
Where the serum fits in your routine
The order for this serum is cleanser, toner, Bakuchiol PDRN Serum, cream, then sunscreen in the morning. If you also use the Firming Eye Cream, it comes last in the evening routine and just before sunscreen in the morning. REWIND is the Solution serum for firmness and elasticity. It is written for skin that looks less firm or looks dull and tired, and for dry to combination skin that wants a comfortable-feeling barrier.
A simple way to get to know it is to keep everything else in your routine the same for the first couple of weeks. In week one, the job is getting used to the habit: shake, 2–3 drops, let the texture settle in. In week two, notice how comfortable your skin feels after applying it. Around week four, take a photo in the same light as week one if you like to compare. Individual results vary, so treat it as a routine to follow rather than a deadline to meet. "Every day, very very better" is meant literally: small, repeated habits, like a two-second shake, count for more than big changes.
Keeping it in good condition
Store the bottle in a cool place away from direct sunlight, which also helps the colour hold, and use it within 12 months of opening. Screw the dropper cap on firmly after each use. Is separation a sign the serum has gone off?
No. Slight separation is how the formula behaves at rest, and shaking brings it back. If the product looks damaged in another way, contact customer care.

Why does the colour look lighter than when I bought it?
