The short answer

How long to leave a face mask on depends on its format. VVBETTER's directions are 3–5 minutes for the Balancing Pad used as a pack, 10–15 minutes for the Gentle Purifying Mud Mask, and 10–20 minutes for the Rejuvenating Squalane Mask. Longer is not better: take a clay mask off before it dries hard and a sheet off before it starts to dry.

Mask timings at a glance

Phones have timers for a reason. Once a mask is on your face it is easy to lose track, and each of these three formats has its own limit. The Mud Mask and the Squalane Mask belong to the Purple Line, VVBETTER's extra skincare line built around vitality, elasticity and regeneration; the Balancing Pad is from the Green Line, the Jeju Yuja line for purifying and balance. This table pulls the directions together.

The dot above the V in our logo stands for a moment of focus, a reminder to slow down and be present. A mask is the most literal version of that: set the timer, put the phone down and give it your attention.

Mask Time on skin How often When in the routine Finish
Jeju Yuja Balancing Pad (Green Line), as a pad pack 3–5 minutes Whenever skin needs calming, or before makeup After cleansing, in place of wiping Remove the pad and pat in what remains
Gentle Purifying Mud Mask (Purple Line) 10–15 minutes (about 10 for dry or normal skin, about 15 for oily skin) Once a week for dry or normal skin; once or twice a week for oily skin After cleansing, before toner Add warm water, loosen the clay with your fingertips, rinse
Rejuvenating Squalane Mask (Purple Line, sheet) 10–20 minutes 2–3 times a week, on days skin needs extra care Evening, after toner and before cream Remove the sheet, pat in the remaining essence

The Mud Mask is a soft, creamy clay. A thicker layer takes longer to dry, so spread an even layer.

The clay mask: a timer matters most here

The Gentle Purifying Mud Mask is a rinse-off clay with British kaolin 10.5% (105,000 ppm) and American bentonite 4% (40,000 ppm), with bakuchiol, squalane, panthenol and centella alongside so purifying does not have to mean stripped. Clay is the format where timing is easiest to get wrong, because it changes as it dries. The directions say not to let it dry hard beyond the stated time.

  1. Cleanse, then keep your face dry.
  2. Scoop with the spatula or clean fingertips and spread an even layer, avoiding the eye and mouth areas. Neither too thick nor too thin: a thicker layer takes longer to dry.
  3. Set a timer. Dry or normal skin: about 10 minutes. Oily skin: about 15 minutes.
  4. Add warm water, roll gently with your fingertips to loosen the clay, and rinse.
  5. Follow with toner, serum and cream.

If a cloudy film remains after rinsing, which is common on oily skin, wash once more with a mild foam such as the 5.5 Soothing Cleansing Foam. Dry or reactive skin should start once a week at 10 minutes and patch-test on the jawline first.

The sheet mask: 10–20 minutes, then pat

Each foil pouch holds one 28 ml sheet; a box has five.

The Rejuvenating Squalane Mask is a single-use sheet soaked in essence: 28 ml per sheet, five sheets per box. It carries a vegan PDRN complex from marine plants at 2,000 ppm (0.2%) with plant-derived squalane, carrot-derived collagen-type protein and centella. It is the Purple Line mask for the elasticity side of the routine.

  1. After cleansing, smooth on toner.
  2. Open the pouch only when you are ready, unfold the sheet, remove the film and fit it to your face.
  3. Leave it for 10–20 minutes. Take it off before it starts to dry.
  4. Pat the remaining essence into your skin, then finish with a cream.

One sheet is one use. Do not reuse the sheet, and use each pouch right after opening. Pat any essence left in the pouch onto your neck or hands the same evening. Avoid the eye area. If your skin reacts easily or you are new to PDRN, press a sheet on the jawline for 10 minutes first.

The pad pack: the short one

A pad pack: lay one pad on the cheek or forehead for 3–5 minutes.

The Jeju Yuja Balancing Pad is a daily toner pad, but it can also be a quick mask. Lay one pad on the cheeks or forehead for 3–5 minutes, remove it and pat in what remains. This is useful when skin needs calming or before makeup. It is a quick mask pack, a short ritual rather than an overnight mask, and the eye area stays out of it. The pad is built around Jeju yuja, zinc PCA and a mild PHA, so it also suits sensitive and oily skin. The mini set packs two pads in each sealed pouch so you can wipe with the first and pack with the second.

Fitting masks into a week

A mask is an extra step, not a daily one. One way to plan a week, offered as an example rather than a rule:

  • Clay evening: once a week (twice if your skin is oily and you have more buildup), then toner, serum and cream.
  • Sheet evenings: two or three times a week, on days your skin feels dry or tired.
  • Pad pack: any day, in the 3–5 minutes before you get dressed or put on makeup.
  • One mask step per evening is plenty. Owning more than one format does not mean you need them together; the clay versus sheet comparison helps you choose.

Common timing mistakes

  • Letting clay dry until it cracks. Rinse at the stated time, loosening it with warm water first.
  • Falling asleep in a sheet. Set an alarm for 20 minutes, not "until I get up".
  • Saving a half-used sheet pouch for tomorrow. The format is single use and meant for the same day.
  • Skipping the pat. The remaining essence is part of the step, so press it in rather than wiping it off.

Quick answers

Can I leave a sheet mask on longer than 20 minutes?

The directions say 10–20 minutes and ask you to remove the sheet before it starts to dry. A longer wear is not part of the instructions.

Should I use a mask before or after toner?

It depends on the mask. The clay goes after cleansing and before toner; the sheet goes after toner and before cream.

How many times a week can I mask?

Clay: once a week for dry or normal skin, once or twice for oily skin. Sheet: two or three times a week. Pad pack: whenever skin needs calming. If your skin feels tight or looks red, scale back.

Do I need to stand there for the whole time?

No, but do not leave the room without a timer. Clay and sheets both have a point where they should come off.
