The short answer

Firming Eye Cream is a concentrated eye cream built on 73% green tea water, with bakuchiol 0.1% (a plant-derived ingredient used in place of retinol), squalane, vitamin C derivatives, an 8-peptide complex, adenosine 0.04% and niacinamide 1%. Twist the pump head up, press once, dot it around the eyes and pat it in, morning and night, as the last skincare step before sunscreen. The bottle is 30 ml and costs $31.00.

What it is and who it suits

The skin around the eyes is thinner than the rest of the face, and many routines treat it as an afterthought. This cream was made as its own step, for three situations:

  • The skin around your eyes looks less firm than it used to.
  • The eye area looks dull or uneven.
  • The eye area feels dry and needs a final layer of moisture after the rest of your routine.

It belongs to the Purple Line, VVBETTER’s extra skincare line for firmness, elasticity and a renewed-looking feel, which is often chosen by mature skin. Like every product we make, it had at least six months of development behind it. It is listed for dry, normal, combination and oily skin, and we suggest it from the late 20s, when you want to start an eye-area step. That is a suggestion, not a rule.

The ingredients, one by one

The four ingredients VVBETTER puts first are bakuchiol, squalane, vitamin C and niacinamide, and the cream is tagged BRIGHTENING, ELASTICITY and REGENERATION. Where an amount is disclosed it appears below; where it is not, the table says so.

Ingredient Amount What it is and why it is there
Green tea water 73% (730,000 ppm) Water made from green tea leaves (Camellia sinensis) used in place of purified water as the base.
Bakuchiol 0.1% (1,000 ppm) A plant-derived ingredient used in place of retinol, and stable in heat and UV.
8-peptide complex 8 types, amount not disclosed Peptides are short chains of amino acids. The eight are nonapeptide-1, acetyl hexapeptide-8, copper tripeptide-1, tripeptide-1, palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7, palmitoyl tripeptide-1, palmitoyl pentapeptide-4 and hexapeptide-9, for skin around the eyes that looks less firm.
Adenosine 0.04% (400 ppm) A compound that is stable to light and heat.
Niacinamide 1% (10,000 ppm) A form of vitamin B3, for an eye area that looks dull or uneven.
Alpha-bisabolol 0.52% (5,200 ppm) Included alongside niacinamide for the same dull, uneven-looking eye area.
Sodium ascorbyl phosphate and ascorbyl glucoside Not disclosed Two vitamin C derivatives, stable forms used in place of pure vitamin C.
Glycerin, panthenol, squalane, sodium hyaluronate Not disclosed The moisture group: they hold water and cushion the skin so the hydration lasts. Squalane is a light, skin-friendly oil-like ingredient that keeps the cream comfortable.
Ceramide NP, cholesterol, carnosine Not disclosed Skin-identical lipids and an amino-acid compound, for the feel of a comfortable barrier around the eyes.
Centella, phellodendron bark, fig fruit and cacao seed extracts Not disclosed Plant extracts listed on the product page.

One thing the list does not hide: there is no “fragrance” line, but orange peel, lavender, geranium and basil oils are in the formula, with limonene and linalool. If you avoid scented ingredients, our fragrance label guide shows how to read that part of a list. The cream is not vegan-marked; it carries GMP and cruelty-free marks.

If bakuchiol is a new word, our bakuchiol page and the bakuchiol purity article go into it.

How the twist-up pump works, and how much to use

  1. Twist the top of the bottle until the pump head rises.
  2. Press once to put a small amount on your fingertip. One pump is usually enough for both eyes.
  3. Dot it around the eye area and pat gently until absorbed.
  4. Keep it off the eyes themselves.
  5. Twist the head back down to seal.

Use it morning and night as the last skincare step. In the morning, follow with sunscreen. If the eye area is reactive, start with evenings only and add the morning later. Use within 12 months of opening, and 36 months from manufacture if unopened.

Patch test and eye-area cautions

If you are new to bakuchiol, or the skin around your eyes reacts easily, patch-test on the jawline for two nights first. Then:

  • If the product gets into your eyes, rinse immediately.
  • If redness, swelling, itching or other irritation occurs during or after use, including after exposure to direct sunlight, stop use and consult a specialist.
  • Do not use on broken or irritated skin.
  • Keep out of reach of children and store away from direct sunlight.

If you also use retinoids or acids near the eyes, introduce the cream on its own for a week or two so you can tell what each step is doing.

Where it fits, and how it differs from nearby steps

The order is cleanser, toner, serum, cream, then the eye cream, then sunscreen in the morning. It does not replace your face cream or serum. Why eye care is its own step explains the thinking.

The nearest product is the Firming Bakuchiol PDRN Serum, which is made for the whole face. Both carry bakuchiol, but the serum has 1% and the eye cream 0.1%, made for the thinner skin around the eyes. Use them together: serum first, then cream, then the eye cream last. The face cream in that sequence can be the Teca Lifting Moisture Cream. Not sure which products you need? The skin quiz will point you.

Quick answers

How much bakuchiol is in it?

0.1% (1,000 ppm). It is a plant-derived ingredient used in place of retinol, and it stays stable in heat and UV.

Can I use it with the Bakuchiol PDRN Serum?

Yes. Serum first, then cream, then the eye cream as the last step. The serum carries 1% bakuchiol and the eye cream 0.1%.

Which vitamin C is in it?

Two stable vitamin C derivatives, sodium ascorbyl phosphate and ascorbyl glucoside, rather than pure vitamin C.

Is it vegan?

It does not carry a vegan mark. Four Purple Line products do: the Cleansing Oil, the Sunscreen, the Squalane Mask and the Bakuchiol PDRN Serum.
